Nov 14 Auction Item Preview: Fine original 19th C Pre Raphaellite style coastal landscape. Original inscription in pencil on stretcher on verso Saint-Raphael [illegible] Mediterrean, House in which C [Charles] Gounod lived when he [composed?] Opera of Faust. The painting shows a woman on a path with a goat walking towards the house. The blue waters of the French Meditarannean, a small island, and a sailboat are in the distance. Very finely painted. Almost certainly an American artist based on the style, and English language titling on reverse.
